God's Minute

August Eleventh

Until the day break, and the shadows flee away.--Song of Solomon 2:17

BLESSED Lord of lives, we praise and glorify Thee for the light of another day with its promise of its love and ministry as well as the possibility it brings of struggle and heartache. It is enough for us to know that we may have Thee for constant Companion and ever present Friend. If Thou go with us no way is too long or wearisome; no ascent too steep or perilous; no shock or surprise too sudden or painful for Thine is the love that will not let us go. Amidst the changing scenes of this world may we pass in uncomplaining patience knowing that Thou art the same yesterday, today, and forever. May it always be morning with our faith, and hope and love, Father, since Thy mercies like the dew, are fresh every morning and new also, every hour of our lives. May we be saved from the wintriness of doubts; the deep darkness of fear; the blazing noon of unbridled desires; and bye and bye, bring us , we pray Thee, unto Thyself, with the morning light falling full on our faces and lighting our pathway with a glory ineffable which is Thine own glory. So bring us at last, into the city which needs no light of moon our sun. Grant it, O Lord, for we ask it in the name of Him whose Truth hath lighted all our hearts.

Amen.
