Potato Fest 2006/WFMW

This post falls under that category of killing two birds with one stone.

Rebecca is hosting Potato Fest 2006 and she's asking for poems, recipes, funny stories, quotes, songs or whatever you can share about the humble potato. Since my entry is a useful way to use a potato, I'm going to enter it in Shannon's Works for Me Wednesday as well. So here goes.

Have you ever broken a lightbulb while it's still screwed into the lamp? If you have, you know that it can be very difficult to get the rest of the lightbulb out without getting cut. Here's how you can use a potato to remove it safely.

First, unplug your lamp. Then cut a piece of potato just big enough to fit into the lightbulb socket. Carefully push your potato onto the sharp pieces of glass that remain and by turning the potato, you can easily remove the rest of the lightbulb. Throw the lightbulb away with the potato intact and you'll also avoid having that sharp piece hanging around in your waste basket.
Now, put on your thinking cap and see what YOU can come up with!
