God's Minute
June Twenty-first
That you might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.--Colossians 1:10
OUR FATHER, we praise Thee for the mercies that are new every morning. Give us what we need today, and shut our minds to the cares of tomorrow, for we know that Thou wilt provide; teach us only to do our part. Let us true our conscience each day by Thy word, and direct our actions by Thy will;--teach us to know both better. Lead us not into temptaion, deliver us from selfishness, prejudice, and worldly wisdom, keep our minds open to truth, and forgive us our sins. As Thou dost deal with us in patience and kindness, so may we not be wanting today in patience and kindness toward all men. Most heartily we ask Thee to bless and preserve all whom we love; comfort and aid all in trouble and distress.
Our Lord and Father, Thou hast made this world so beautiful, and life at its fullest so fair a thing, take pity, we pray Thee, and stay the madness of men that talk and teach strife. Awaken the people to a sense of their responsibility for the leadership of ignorace, hatred, and greed that they too often accept, give us men of good will, and enable us to follow the right way to the end that Thy kindgdom may come, and Thy will be done on earth. We ask it for Jesus' sake,
Amen.
