Pre-wash cycle

(I hope this doesn't gross anyone out. . .)

Ivy is the official plate pre-washer at our house. Eve swoops in and gets the big scraps, but Ivy sticks with it and gets right down to work cleaning the plate. The first thing she does after Eve takes off is to lick a spot clean so she can put her dainty little foot on the plate and not get it in the food. By the time she's done with it, it looks as though it could go back into the cupboard. I rarely have to scrape the plates before they go into the dishwasher.

(for those of you who are totally grossed out now, never fear, we have a sanitizing cycle on our dishwasher and all dog-licked plates go immediately to the dishwasher, so if you come to my house for dinner you don't need to worry about doggy germs. I promise.)
